We have been commanded to build temples. The Temple is a great place for us to go to feel even closer to Heavenly Father. It is a place for us to escape the world and just forget about everything for a while and focus our thoughts on the Savior. In the temple we can be sealed together for all time and all eternity with our families. Also it allows us to act as proxy for our ancestors who didn't have the opportunity to except the gospel while on the earth.
